Well it isn’t really going to plan at the moment ! As a result of not feeling great, I haven’t run as much as the plan says I should have done. But I’m trying not to beat myself up about it, rather make plans to improve. I’ve just had some blood tests done, am now back on iron and Vit D supplements in addition to my usual thyroid meds, so hopefully I’ll feel an improvement in energy levels pretty soon. I hate it when I feel like this, struggling to keep my concentration and find enthusiasm.
I did do parkrun on Saturday though, my first visit to Cuerden Valley. It was a tough course, undulating would be the word, but I loved it and wish I lived nearer so I could do it more often. We were lucky and storm Dennis didn’t really make an appearance until we were walking back to the card when the heavens opened and we got drenched within seconds. And I finally got to wear my new 250 shirt ! (I’m very proud of this).
Week 4 – (w/c 17th Feb)
This week isn’t looking much better as I’m currently in London until Thursday – I did run Monday night and I ran this morning, actually very pleased to do 5 miles. That said, I need to give my body a chance to rebuild the iron stores and then I might be less breathless and achy. I am planning on parkrun Saturday and hopefully a longer run on Sunday morning – so I’ll have got my four runs for the week, just not the quality that I would have liked.
This morning’s run was lovely. Bright and sunny. Such a lovely change from what we’ve had recently and as hard as it is to get out of bed and run, it makes a big difference to how I feel for the day. I did stop a few times for pics…
Does anyone else suffer with iron deficiency anaemia? There isn’t really any reason for it with me, apart from the running, but it is frustrating. The doc has told me now to pretty much stay on the tablets most of the time as without I drop right back down and then it takes a while to get the levels up again.
What I am really looking forward to is a few quieter weeks, where we are at home for the weekend, can do what we need to do, hopefully enjoy a few longer weekend runs.
