I’d booked a couple of nights at Woodhouse Farm Campsite for my husband and I to use as a base for some exploring. As anyone who has tried to book a campsite recently will know, lots of places are pretty booked up, but we managed to get a pitch on this site, not quite two hours away from home, in a lovely place. It was the first time we’d put up the drive away awning – pretty pleased with how it went and it gives us loads more space. We do need a few more tent pegs for next time though.

We didn’t arrive on site until late afternoon, so just went for a bit of a walk to find our way around. It’s a good job we did as the public footpath that was supposed to be the beginning of our route for the next day was blocked off. Back to the van and time to cook our evening meal before settling down to watch a film and an early night.
I’ve split this trip into three posts, because they are going to be picture heavy!
Day 1. Wedding anniversary run!
Starting at the campsite, heading around to Galphy, skirting the villages of Clotherholme and Bishopton and looping through Winksley and back to the campsite. It was a really lovely route, though not all runnable. A great run followed by a relaxing few hours, dinner and champagne.

This is my favourite kind of place to be running – off road, near rivers, in the fields. It is my happy place.
